Ruth Roman is the youngest child born to Lithuanian and Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold (Gold) & Abraham Roman in Lynn, Massachusetts. When she was young her carnival barker father passed away and left her mother without a choice other than to become a cleaner woman and waitress to feed the family. Ruth was raised in a poor neighborhood of Boston Massachusetts where she attended high school. But she quit school in the span of two years to take on a acting career. Her path to success turned out be strewn with obstacles such as In New York, she obtained an opportunity to pose for stills in a magazine for crime however, theatrical opportunities eluded her. When she was employed as a hat-check girl in a nightclub, she quit and returned to Boston. It was the New England Repertory Company was the first position she held as a regular actor. The company paid her performing during the daytime in the ushering department. She also studied drama and eventually graduated from the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
